Better Care Medical

What type of patients are treated at VA medical centers?

Obviously, veterans. But I was wondering if I there would be a lot of soldiers who have recently returned with war injuries or if there are mainly seniors who served a long time ago. Or both. I'm asking because I'm applyingto volunteer at the Philadelphia one and I wanted to know what to expect.

  1. Both. I think they will be welcome for every volunteer.
  2. Mostly your older vets from previous campaigns but more and more younger ones from the most recent Situation. Also those who have gotten out and my not be injured from any conflicts but as yet do not have private Insurance.
  3. Both, ma'am. I am an Iraqi vet that returned in '03. I have been treated at the Loma Linda VA ever since then. From my experience at the hospital, most people there are over 65. You want to volunteer? Good for you! That's great! I know people over there will be glad to have you. Just to let you know, there might be some vets (they'll never admit this) that feel under appreciated. They feel that their sacrifices haven't really amounted to much, and now they are being screwed by the system that was supposed to take care of them. I've been going through that myself in the past 5 years since getting out. They may have different opinions about the war, but whatever your politics are, please be appreciative of their sacrifice. Say thank you for serving the country. I said that to a guy at a retirement home. He started crying.
