What is NYS procedure for medical care while in police custody?

When incarcerated in a holding center and a request for medical care is given do they have to provide it? What if you are HIV+ and ask for medical help do they need to give it to you?

1. Only if it's life threatening. If you have a headache or a sprain you'll have to just deal with it.
2. Yes they do. If you are seriously ill and in need of medical assistance they MUST provide it to you.
