How does immigration affect medical care in the US? Quick question: How does immigration affect medical care in the US? Legal immigration. I need answers with stuff related to cultural difference between the patient and doctor and other stuff like that. Thanks.
How to get emergency medical care for non immigrant on tourist visa? My sister in law from Guatemala is visiting us here in Michigan. She's here legally on a tourist visa. She's come down with a earache, congestion, toothache, and numbness/tingling in her face. We've started her on some over the counter medicine, but am concerned she might have an infection that's more serious. What are our options for getting her emergency medical care and medicine since she doesn't have health insurance? Thanks in advance!
How good is emergency medical care in France? On the night Diana died it took 17 minutes from the first emergency call to the ambulance reaching the scene. She did not reach the hospital until over 1hour 25 minutes after the ambulance arrived at the scene. The ambulance also stopped en-route. I would not want to be in an accident in France if the medical care is still like this today.
Do you think medical care in China is better than America? From unprofessional viewpoints (most of us here are not doctors) or professional views, the efficiency of medical care, the knowledge of skilled doctors, their skills, the procedure of diagnosis and treatment, the availabilty, even the expense of medical services in China, is better than those in America/Canada/Europe or not? Have you ever had experience on it? What do you think of it? Thanks.
How does someone apply for disability pay and medical care from the government? I'm wondering how you go about getting disability pay and free medical care from the government like for regular people with diagnosed mental disorders who are basically unable to perform duties and keep a job and for veterans of wars? I've read that's it's a complicated process with lots of forms and you have to send back yet another different set of forms to appeal your rejection, which is all but granted the first time you apply. Anyone have experience with this?
What do you think about women that are adamantly against medical care during pregnancy? What do you guys think about people that are adamantly against everything in the medical field that are pregnant? I mean the women that don't get regular care, like the women that get no testing, nothing done.I think it's just ignorant. It's the person's decision, but I think it's better for a safe birth to get normal care.I mean without most of the normal anything during pregnancy. The women that refuse induction, that stuff. Not to mention,no vaccinations after the baby's born for the baby.
What are your thoughts on children from overseas receiving free medical care here ? Do you think its fair they can be flown here with their families to receive free medical care, or do you think they should remain in their own countries and take pot luck? Before anyone starts crying racism,I'm not talking about the conjoined twins (they are from Cork),I am asking what your views are in general. Kernow- If you had read my question I said I AM NOT talking about the twins. I know Cork is a different country, but its hardly Afghanistan is it?
How does anyone in this country get free medical care? I'm a veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom and I dont get medical care. Someone please tell me how illegals get medical care because I want in on this program. The only health care I get is through Planned Parenthood, and you better believe I pay for it. I am not joking. I am sitting here in my BDUs right now, and I have no health insurance. Tricare does not provide for the Guard. Well you see, I have this job in which I put on a military uniform every day and I have to take physical training tests and qualify with an M16 so I can shoot back at whoever shoots at me, and there is no health insurance in my benefits package. So where do I get free medical care?
Why is medical care in the US so expensive? Compared to medical care in any other country in the world, the care in the US seems to be prohibitively expensive. It can't be because of the cost of only the procedures themselves, since medical tourism is on the rise-- people going overseas to get the same procedures done at 5% of the cost. Doctors seem to be complaining that they don't get paid enough for what they do, and the cost of insurance is out of reach for many people. Why is medical care so expensive, and where does that money go-- since it seems to not go to the procedures or to medical professionals?
Where can one find adequate medical care in Dipolog? Should I give up and find a doctor in Cebu? We have had a very bad experience in a Dipolog hospital where our 18 month old baby was very ill with cold, bronchitus, flu, infections in both ears and vomitting. We believe she caught this on the flight from the US to Manila. The Doctor at the Dipolog hospital believed she only had a cold. She is now back in the US for 5 days, still pretty sick but is getting better thanks to competent medical care in the US. Had she stayed in Dipolog much longer without adequate and competent medical care the result would have been life threatening for our baby! We plan to retire to Dipolog only IF WE CAN FIND ADEQUATE MEDICAL CARE! We are willing to travel to Cebu or elswhere. Please help!
Planning an extended stay in Egypt, how is the medical care there? I am an American girl who just got engaged to an Egyptian guy. I am planning to visit Egypt in the near future to meet his family. I might be staying there for 2 months maybe more. His family lives in Doqqi to be exact. I also suffer from Juvenile Diabetes. How is the medical care there? Is there easy access to insulin and my other medical supplies? Is the bottled water clean over there? Please let me know, so that I can plan accordingly.
When and in what Third World area should I provide free medical care? I am currently 17, and after college I want to attend medical school. At some point after getting my degree I would like to spend a year providing free medical care in impoverished areas like rural India or Senegal. At what point in my career could this be done (right out of medical school, after internships, etc.) and what impoverished area do you think could most use the help?
What happens when a foreign person comes to the UK and needs medical care? If a foreign person is over on holiday I know they would normally have insurance to cover any treatment they need, but how does it work here in the UK? Firstly, do NHS hospitals charge foreign people whilst on holiday like they do in the US, and secondly if an illegal immigrant came here, and needed medical care for, let's say a heart condition, would they be able to get it for free in our UK hospitals? My husband and I are disagreeing over this and I'd like someone to put the record straight!!
Who actually determines your present medical care? In the US, we are presently debating and trying to get a new/better (or whatever you want to call it) Health Care Bill passed. My question for you now is, at present when you go to the doctor and need medical care that may involve a variety of test done, who determines the test you will get? Explain your answer as it relates to the present Health Care Debate.
What kind of doctor should I see for all-around medical care? I need to select a primary physician, one for all-around medical care. I have a very large selection to choose from as most doctors in my area accept my insurance. My main issues are: *Type 2 Diabetes, *Restless Leg Syndrome, *Depression / Bi-Polar. I see an Endocrinologist for my Diabetes and a Psychiatrist for depression / bi-polar, but neither of them will treat / address other medical issues. I would like to find a physician for general medical treatment for *sick / *cold / *flu / *injury / *x-rays / *lab work, etc. BUT someone also well-versed in Diabetes, Restless Leg Sybdrome and Depression / bi-polar just so they may better understand my background and be familiar with and able to understand my treatment of those conditions. SOOOOOOO........ General Practice, Family Practice, Internal Medicine, M.D., D.O., which area should I look into to select a physician?
Is there any way to balance compassion and profit in medical care? I know the most important thing in America is making a profit, but it's not right that everyone can't afford insurance for medical care. Things that are insured are usually material things that are valuable and expensive. It doesn't seem right that health care is on that list. Couldn't "they" have made it affordable? I mean we all work and are contributing. It just seems like "they" are picking and choosing who they want to live. You know, to keep undesireables out of an area, you just jack up the prices? Am I the only uninsured person out there that prays my health will keep up on its own?
What is our crisis in medical care today? For example, some people are too poor to go to doctors or they can't get health insurance to cover their medical bill. What are some things that we or the governmant can do to give everyone adequate health care? The more relevant information, the better. If you can please also provide any articles that regards about any medical crisis we are facing today or what the government has done to give all americans equal health care will be great! I've search everywhere and it's hard to find them, especially when you're not clear about the topic. Thanks in advance =)
In the event of an emergency who can consent for emergency medical care on my behalf? I live in California. I am 21 years old and living with my fiancee. I am currently involved in an activity that requires emergency contacts who can authorize medical care in the event of an emergency. Who can legally give such medical consent in California, and how would I be able to give legal authority to my fiancee to make such decisions if, she is not already covered by the law.
Does God give us a right to medical care? God gives us rights to life, liberty, and property, implied in his divine prohibitions against murder, kidnapping, and theft. Does he give us the right to medical care by refusing others their rights to liberty and property, empowering us to commandeer others' time and seize their medicines, hospital rooms, and medical equipment? Does God sanction the seizure of others' assets through taxation, which they could otherwise use to buy medical care and insurance to protect themselves and their families? More generally, does God give us the right to goods and services that don't belong to us?
What are my options for medical care with no money in Georgia? I have been under tremendous stress for an extended period. I survived a bout of homelessness & malnourishment. I had to file bankruptcy, I got a job but was underemployed. I was not making enough to pay my bills, just fuel and a weekly lodge. After the homelessness, I stayed with a friend who lived so far from my daily routine that I had to literally spend hours traveling daily to continue to survive. I somehow contracted a viral infection amd had to make an emergency room visit. This infection hit me pretty hard affecting lungs and bronchial passages. My immune system is so weak that I had to stop working my low paying job just to recupperate. I need to work. I have worked my entire life, still but my head spins constantly, I have a bad headache, & my chest and heart literally ache. I just don't feel quite well yet. 1.Given my conditions & needs what are my options for medical care with no money? 2.Do doctors do pro bono work? 3.Are there free clinics, I can visit?
How can I get medical care without insurance? A friend of mine is staying with me she is only 17 and is VERY sick not sick enough to go to the hospital but im afraid if we don't do something quick it could get there. She has no medical insurance and cant afforded to go to the hospital of doctor we have no free clinics in our area that I know of. How can the poor get the medical care they need? How can people who can't afford health insurance get the medical care they need? My dad was afraid to go to the doctor because he was afraid he can't afford it. He doesn't have health insurance. He died from liver failure because he didn't so see the doctor. Had he been to the doctor sooner, he might still be alive..
Why is medical care in the US so outrageously expensive? Is it simply because of greed or the health care system taking advantage of people when they need help? A hospital stay costs more than a new car! And most medical tests,procedures,surgeries,etc.. are thousands of dollars. Why the high cost? Most of us don't have that type of money! There's insurance,of course, but a lot of people including me have bad coverage. And millions have no coverage. What can be done to rein in health care costs?
In countries where medical care is free. . .how does that work? I've asked several questions on here in the past about medical stuff here in the United States. Until I was enlightened by some Yahoo members from other countries, I was unaware that many countries have free medical care. So how does that work? And why doesn't the United States do that? By the way, in NO WAY shape or form am I trying to start any type of political debate, I am simply trying to educate myself on the subject. Thanks:-)
how does Obama plan to cut the costs of medical care? Word is that President Obama plans to cut several hundred billions from the cost of medical care. Much of that is to come from Medicare payments to hospitals. What are the specific costs to be cut and will Medicare recipients get the same benefits as they do now?
What is the Medical care in Ottawa like? Do you have to wait a long time to get a doctor? At the emergency room is there a lot of waiting [over an hour]? How do they let patients in into the emergency room [by first come first serve or depending on problem? Or both?] I read a person's comment on cbc to the transit strike article today, mentioning "crime rate and inadequate medical care". I know the crime rate is relatively low, but does s/he hold any water with the medical care comment? Thanks in advance
Can you sue a doctor for refusing medical care? I have been to my doctors office 3x's. I saw the PA once, then the doctor once, then the PA again. (PA = Physician's Assistant) She never gives me any medicine. And I called back yesterday because I am coughing from my chest, green mucous coming up. And she send me for blood work. And said I can't be seen until I get the blood work. I am about ready to talk to the doctor about this. What if I have pneumonia? I could get worse without medical care. YES YOU CAN: Says right here: "The doctor may not like having to treat you, but you cannot be refused care." I have been sick for 2 weeks now. What am I suppose to do then. I could care les sif he doesn't give me medicine. I just think I have a right to be seen!
How can I get diagnosed without any medical care? I am a student, and have no medical care, but really need to get diagnosed for stuff. My health is getting worse in some areas, but I can't do nothing about it, cuz I'm broke and doctors are expensive and there is no one I can turn to...
Can you get medical care without insurance? I was on my parents insurance. Now it's running out. I can only find part time fast food work with no benefits. My girlfriend, baby and I are living with her parents while I take a course to try to get a better job so we're not eligible for medicare. Will doctors see me if I need medical care?
Are there any charities that help people pay for animal medical care? I have a chance to raise money for one or two charities, and as I have pets that have been very sick lately and the costs have been tremendous I was wondering if there was a place I could donate to that goes toward the cause of helping pay for their pet's medical care. Any suggestions?
Do prisoners in the united kingdom get medical care? Do prisoners in the united kingdom get medical care? Say, for example, I was in prison for mass murder and I was serving an indefinate life sentance, and then suddenly I developed an ilness that if left untreated could cause me to go blind in both eyes, would I get treated for it and be able to access and eye test and an eye examination or wouldn't I be able to. This is a theoritical circumstance.
Why should Americans be rationed medical care? Europe and Canada ration medical care and medicine to save money. Has this country become so inconsiderate of the citizens that it too will start to ration health care? Congress needs to be told not to pass such socialist legislation. We need to protect life not put it on a ration card.
What are RECENT important laws and court trials regarding PSYCHIATRIC patients and medical care? I am writing a paper on the topic of legal rights and issues regarding mentally ill and psychiatric patients in regard to all aspects of their medical care. I've already done the Patient Self-Determination Act, HIPPA, Zinermon v. Burch, Americans with Disabilites Act and Sutton vs. United Airlines. What are some other good ones to write about (please try to suggest ones that happened in 1990 or later)
How can i find out more concerning forcing a person to receive medical care? I know of someone who is mentally ill but because she still cares for herself (eats, and bathes) and hasnt tried to harm herself or anyone the courts won't allow her to be taken into medical custody. I know this person well enough to know this is not how she wants to live but the illness (bipolar) has control over her. Are there independent groups that help get past these legal red tape issues in order to truly get a person the help they need? If so who and what? You can email the info as well... Thank you all who replied, and you are all right. I know she cant get help unless she's a danger to herself or others. What Im asking might fall under illegal activity but at this point I dont care! She needs help and the system wont do it! Im very adamant about this because this is serious and this person could die not living the life she wanted because of beuracratic red tape (she is in her retirement years)! I have heard about "rogue" groups that force their way onto the premises and force the person medical treatment because govt. standards often look over the mentally diseased and I guess thats moreso what Im inquiring about....confused and fed up also bmac....she was in the process of doing power of attorney and amending her living will for such this type of situation but too little too late, so it is not only something I want for her, but something she recognized and wanted for herself as well...
Why does America not have free medical care like other advanced countries? Many other (maybe all advanced ) countries have medical care for ALL their citizens, and they do this for half the cost we Americans are paying, yet Americans live a shorter life. Of course, to institute such a program, price controls must be made. We the people would love such a program. We would be healthier, more prosperous, and live longer. Of course, doctors and others would be less wealthy, but they would still be wealthy, but we the people, would be so much better off. I believe this would be in keeping with the highest principals of a democracy. In addition, with healthier people, Americans would be more competitive in the world.
why medical care is a market failure? "Medical care is an example of a potentially inefficient market because consumers do not have perfect information about the product." Isn't truely?
If Health Care is a Right should we have an army like draft for Medical Workers? I mean.. if it really is a RIGHT... and ALL must have equall and the BEST health care.. It is clear isnt it.. that we must draft the most intelligent people in colleges into the medical care army? It sounds kinda silly.. but isnt this the natural conclusion i have to draw from you socialist/democrat/liberal readers of this question. Please.. explain how its not logical and moral from your perspective.
Is anyone else frustrated with the increasing cost of medical care? I don't believe insurance is the problem. It is the extreme cost billed by doctors. Example: Comparison of charges for my children's shots within only 3 years. My first child had a $37 doctor visit with a $300 shot bill at 6 months old. My second child at 6 months had the same care at a $120 doctor visit with a $700 shot bill. Same doctor! Same care! Is this legal! These are just routine health check ups. Who can afford to stay healthy anymore? And God forbid for the people who really get sick! I believe doctors should be compisated for their education and important services they provide but it is getting out of hand. I also feel that the time and efficiency provided by many of the medical professions are severly declining. What are your feelings?
With the baby boomer generation entering retirement, how will we be able to afford medical care for everyone? Fact: Medical care at the end of life cost about 10-12% of the total health care budget and 27% of the Medi-care budget. Doctors, patients, and patient's family are very reluctant to give up hope for a dying patient. Even when hospice and comfort care is available, people don't utilize it. With the baby boomer generation approaching retirement, how will we sustain adequate medical care for everyone and not waste it on foolish hope? Unfortunately, the idea of "giving up hope" is a collective decision not only involving doctors but also patient and family. When all are in agreement that there is no hope, the idea of "giving up" cames to fruition. I said unfortunately because there has to be a better way.
What does Medical care cost in the UK? I'm a big fan of Micheal Moore's films, Have you seen Sicko? but my aunt lives in England and my dad has type 2 diabetes and had a double by-pass, but might need to have heart surgery again. We asked her about what we saw in in the movie about England, she said that you could go and see the doctor but you would still have to pay.........I'ld like to here from anyone in any other country that can tell me if that movie is accurate. Are there any countries where you can get serious medical care like heart surgery for free? And what are the rules for foreigners? In the movie they said that you don't have to pay for college in France, is that so?
A health economist established a study to assess utilization of emergency medical care and health insurance.? A health economist established a study to assess utilization of emergency medical care and health insurance. These data have been compiled: 4% of all adults have utilized emergency medical care in the last 12 months. For the pool of patients who utilized emergency care, 80% had health insurance. While for a random sample of persons who never utilized emergency medical care, 50% had health insurance. An adult, selected to be a participant in this study, has medical insurance. What is the probability this individual will utilize emergency medical care in the next 12 months?

I really want a ferret but my mom says her friend who has ferrets spends a lot of money on medical care for them, so she wont let me have one. is it true that they need a lot of medical care? i forgot to add, i have a hamster, would the ferret hurt the hamster?
Do you think medical care in China is better than America/Canada/Europe? From unprofessional viewpoints (most of us here are not doctors) or professional views, the efficiency of medical care, the knowledge of skilled doctors, their skills, the procedure of diagnosis and treatment, the availabilty, even the expense of medical services in China, is better than those in America/Canada/Europe or not? Have you ever had experience on it? What do you think of it? Thanks.
What are most companies offering these days for medical care? My company has gone from offering a good medical plan THIS year to one with either a $1500 deductable or one with a $3000 deductable. Both options stink. Are other companies doing this? AND is there a legal requirement for companies to offer medical coverage of any kind? What level of coverage is required?
Medical Care? Any Doctors Out There Could you please tell me what it's like to be a doctor (w/ young patients). I'm writting a book seris about kids (ages 5- 17) in an orphanage and I have a chacter that is a doctor (pediatrician) for the orphans, whom adopts one of the teen girls in the orphanage. Need something to go on for my M.D. character. I'm stuck on describing his chacter/ life profile !! You may email me answers.
Would like to start a non-medical personal care business in Louisiana? Does anyone know the process, I already know about obtaining the license. Have anyone starting a non-medical personal care business in Louisiana, if so what was your success rate and how long did it take to get everything together. Are there any grants that may be available to start the business?
What should we do about the people who can not afford medical care .? As a true conservative I say we refuse treatment to anyone who does not have the ability to pay for it . Then those wishing to provide free medical care can . People will go someplace else if they can not be treated here . I say it weeds out the undesirables . I will agree that if you want you can donate to help the poor out if you like but forcing me to pay for their treatment is wrong .
Where can I get a medical care? I'm 24, live in Tennessee, go to school and work part time. I don't get medical at work cuz I'm part time, and have no way of paying for my doctors bills, and recently I've noticed serious health problems, but it scares me that no body really cares if I just die, unless I have the money.
Refusal of Medical Care in the United States? If an individual refuses medical care, does competency or lack of information come into play? Mainly I'm trying to find any laws in regards to refusal of medical care in the United States. A .gov link that could lead me to a more informed answer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.
which country has the highest level of medical care? i have heard that america has better surgeons/doctors etc and the treatment is more advanced than the uk is this correct, I know that countries such as india and japan also rank very high in being good countries for medical care is this true?
Do daily trips to the hospital to help care for a chronically ill infant count as medical miles? I have a 5 month old infant that was hospitalized for a month. Obvoisly transporting the infant to the hospital counts as medical miles, but does the dailly travel to visit and care for the infant also count as medical miles. Care includes feeding, diapers, medical procedures that would routinely happen in the home, learn how to do new medical procedures for when the infant returns home and to learn how to use new medical equipment that will be used in the home.
What can be done to get the proper medical care for the prisoners that are neglected and there are "MANY" i know this is not in just one state it is in all states.. i know of one person in the system now.that went into the system walking in and due to continued medical problems had to finally be admitted to a hospital. He was diagnosed with MS..this was in 2004. He has not been back to the hospital or any medical Doctor since...the prison medical staff was told he needed physical therepy with followup care and so far Nothing..he now is in a wheel chair, is in depends ,cannot walk, feed himself or dress himself..they will not feed him he must lay on his bed and scoop the food into his mouth..he was due to be released in January and due to his condition and because of what his charges were. They cannot find anywhere a nursing home ,not even the VA homes.and he is a VET. will take him.. So they have just transferred him to another prison.. Even tho these people are in prison they do deserve to have the medical care they need. There are many prisoners out there being neglected.they need help!
how much does medical care cost for someone that needs X-rays? like my mom slipped on ice last sunday and her back was hurting really bad. It hasn't been getting better and she said her legs are hurting now so maybe it's getting worse. She won't go to the hospital tomorrow or on Wednesday because she can get free medical care on Thursday but I'm totally worried if that's too long to wait. Is it that expensive if she gets like checked for that stuff?
Who else sees the danger in the government telling us we have to seek preventive medical care? I know I don't want the government telling me when I have to go to the doctor, and what preventive care I must undergo. Some preventive care can be good, but I have heard of some cancer treatments being done too prematurely, and have resulted in the death of the person. Some never even had cancer to begin with. Not many people know the truth about mamograms either, that it can actually spread the cancer. I feel too many children are diagnosed with cancer, I just am not buying it. I think money has a lot to do with diagnosing children with labels they may not have. I heard one doctor got excited because they wanted to be the first to find the cancer, I know most doctors care, and most of the cancer patients have the real disease, but there is just something I dont trust about the whole thing. If this ever happens to me, I will go all natural healing. It should be our choice when or if we ever want to go to the doctor.
